Dear Addison and Avery,
Man you two are keeping Mommy and Daddy running these days! Last weekend Aunt Connie Peterson came to visit while Daddy went to Auburn with Uncle Billy, Jester, and Rusty for a ' Guys weekend'. She was a great help to Mommy and you girls were so good for us! We took you to see the fountain in Forsyth because they had dyed it green for this weekends St. Patrick's Day events. It was a nice cool day. Then Sunday we got up and went to breakfast on Tybee and walk on the beach. Addison, you loved the beach and sand. Avery, you didn't too much care for the loose sand. You were funny, but you both had a great time! You two are climbing up on everything (even the end tables aren't safe anymore), trying to get behind everything (especially Mommy's chair, and the gate around the TV), and still thinking it's funny when Mommy and Daddy say 'No!' or 'Stop that'. This past Thursday, Addison, you slipped on our bed and bit your tongue really hard. It bled for a bit, but you calmed down and it stopped. I thought I was going to have to take you to the doctor to get checked out. Thankfully your Pedi nurse reassured me that you'll be fine, and yes, you are doing great. This weekend was a low key, stay at home and watch the St. Patrick's Day parade and stay away from the traffic and crowds type weekend. We cleaned and played in the beautiful weather, went to church, and grocery shopping. You two are both teething bad this weekend. You are drooling a lot, and very cranky!! :-) Hoping you'll be better for Grandma tomorrow. Sending you lots of love and wishes for your teeth to come on through!! Love you!!

Fearless...
Oh man... It's hard to imagine how boring life was before these two cuties came into my life, but wow they sure are keeping us on our toes and running here lately!! Yes, Addison is our new acrobat. She has officially climbed/fell out of her crib this morning as we were getting ready for work. Thankfully she is ok, no scrapes, bumps, or bruises just a scared girl that cried out. We still do not know how she did it without making a sound. (the monitor was on in our room to hear her) They're new favorite activities added to list is to climb on the sofa and 'go off' the side on their belly's backwards, climb onto the end table, and make a bridge from the coffee table and the couch. They absolutely love going outside and checking the mail has to be spelled out now because they get so excited thinking they can go out with us any/every time the mail is checked. They are solely on table food now but incredibly picky. We are trying to branch them out and add to their list of what they'll eat. So far they'll eat chicken nuggets, fish sticks (not too much), Avery will eat bologna, green beans, corn, cheese, yogurt, pees, spaghetti o's, and most any fruit! It's a work in progress and we work on daily getting them to eat and to eat nicely. (not tossing what they don't want on the cat or the floor, or creating a windshield wiper affect with their hands, the table, and the food!) We are so excited to see Aunt Connie this weekend as Daddy goes to Auburn to have a fun weekend with his brother, Rusty, and Jester. Hoping everyone is great. I am thinking about re-doing this site and making it more like 'letters to Addison and Avery' when I post. Any thoughts? Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Best wishes and hope my girls stay near the ground!!

Oh I'm so behind... a major update is needed...
Please accept my apologies for not posting since announcing we were pregnant with the twins. Things have been a whirlwind of fun since our last post. We closed and completely updated our house in Dave's childhood neighborhood that his parents still live in! (Yes, his Mom so graciously keeps the girls daily while we are at work and of course comes any other time we need assistance.)
We delivered the girls two months early due to Addison having irregular chord flow, but thankfully the girls were strong enough to not need any NICU stay. They stayed at the hospital I delivered at in their Special Care (Level II) nursery. They both stayed in right at 4 weeks. I delivered on 9-20-11 and Addison went home first on 10-18-11 (day before my birthday) and Avery went home two days later 10-20-11. What a birthday to remember!!! Also so thankful my Mom was in town when I delivered too so she was there through everything with me. Her and my dad had come up the weekend before to help out with things around the house, getting ready for the girls, and getting things together that I still needed but was unable to get due to bed rest that I was put on after a hospital stay/night of monitoring on Labor Day weekend. The girls have done great despite being so tiny and early. Addison was 3.2lbs and Avery was 3.6lbs. We were told they would be fraternal but following a DNA test due to the difficulties of being able to tell them apart, they are indeed IDENTICAL! I know I know... did we really have to pay to have a test done, but yes, LOL, we did! They have hit every mile stone on time along with any other full term baby their age. They are such troopers, strong willed fighters. These girls are bound and determined to do things their way and they do! :-) They're so much fun. I am hoping to start posting weekly to better keep up with their milestones, and have something for them to look back at as well. (Cheesy I know!) They are now walking/running and climbing up/into everything! They love anything and everything but their toys, haha. They really aren't talking yet, but will say yea, (sometimes yes), along with a form of 'dat' for that/there, Dada (in mumble and to Dave), and very rarely Mama (in mumble only). We're working on words because the temper tantrums are here in full force! They are still teething too. Addison as of just a few days ago 8 teeth (4 top, 4 bottom) and Avery 7 (4top, 3 bottom). Other than that they are such fun loving, hug and kiss giving, fun girls. They LOVE going O-U-T or going to check the M-A-I-L. Yes we have to spell things out already, haha. We are EXPECTING.... TWINS!!! 11-12-2011
Yes, you did read that correctly. It's still sinking in here too, LOL. We are super excited and happy to be pregnant and having twins on top of it all is really fun. (hard and challenging too I know!)As of today I am 12 weeks and 5 days along. I go back to the doctor on June 6 (in four weeks).
Since our last post and pregnancy announcement we are in the process of buying a house. This house is in Savannah in the same neighborhood that Dave grew up in and his parents still live in. We lucked up on a great deal on an older 1960 brick home, corner lot, 3 bedroom plus bonus room house. It was in great condition and after some updated paint and carpet will be even better! The red shag has to go! LOL!! So thats the news from the East Coast crew... going to go and find some dinner for us and take it easy for a bit.

Happy New Year!!
Hey Everyone,
I (Yup, Jess), hope this year is starting out great for everyone! We're doing great! We have two jobs so we know we are blessed and are happy about that. Christmas was wonderful! We celebrated a little early with the Padgett's so that we could travel to Mobile to be with my parents this year on Christmas. We had a great (but sadly short) visit with them. We were able to spend a day with my girls Casey, Mandy, Sarah, and Madison! and Randy too :o). It's so good being able to reconnect like we've never been separated by hundreds of miles and hours of travel. We were not able to see any extended family but such is life during the busy holidays.
I was also able to go and spend a weekend again in the mountains with my girls from Atlanta and meet my good friends Sandy and Al's precious boy John. I was able to see everyone but Laura and Karisa's baby Blake. Hopefully next time I'll be able to stay in Atlanta longer.
Work is great. Praying for a full time position for next year! I am not too sure when I'll find out, but jobs have not been posted yet. I have to 'apply' to them when they're posted in our e-mails. Please keep my job in your prayers. My position right now will not be opening up again at the beginning of the school year. It will be an add on later if they need it. (like they did this year when I got the job) Dave is staying busy with his job. They had some rezoning so he was able to 'lose' a store and now only has to rotate between 6 stores every week. It makes it a bit easier on him to get to every store and get everything accomplished that is needed. He has been down with his back in the evenings, but has started physical therapy, and seems to be improving. Thankfully the doctors are not saying anything about surgery!!
So my new years resolution is up and going! I want to blog about it to help keep me focused and held accountable! I am not 'dieting', but instead making better life and healthier choices. My goals are to lose a pound a week (not too big to be discouraged, but not too small, I gotta work for every pound I lose) with losing 5 pounds a month. My goal is to get back to where I was on our wedding day! The happiest day of my life so far!! So far I am at 12 pounds lost (yes I lost 11 pounds in January alone.) I am so happy and proud every time I say that, but tend to be lazy/less motivated during the week at times. I am staying focused and on track with food so that is a plus. I have a great support group from my friends who I used to work out with in Atlanta. My goal is to run the Savannah bridge run in December with my brother-in-law!! We want to do a 5k this spring and next fall as well. Those are my goals! We'll see... only time will tell....
Well I have to get going and finish cleaning. Hope you all have a fantabulous weekend!

Trying to do better
I am trying to do a better job on updating the blog. I'm thinking more shorter posts instead of the occasional biography. :o)
So things are going great in the Padgett world. I (Jess) have started teaching Pre-K 4 year olds at BES on Fort Stewart. I am loving it. I have 14 so far, and they are all so sweet. No behavior problems. I guess I should say yet, we're all still getting to know each other, LOL. But seriously, they're a great group. It is so much different from teaching first grade. It's amazing how much they learn and grow from the beginning of pre-K to the beginning of first. Wow!
Dave is still enjoying his job. He's been on the go abit lately, he spent the week in Orlando for their National Territory Manager meeting. They had a lot of fun there, and were able to enjoy Universal Studios as well.
Other than that we're gearing up for Christmas. Have not been able to decorate yet this year, still working on getting school stuff settled, then the apt will get a good cleaning, and then the holiday decorations will go up! I am so excited for the holidays. I am going to go on a trip with some girlfriends from Atlanta to the mountains. (our 2nd of hopefully many annual trips) Then we'll celebrate Christmas with the Padgett's before going down to Mobile to spend Christmas Eve and Day with my parents. We alternate holidays (one gets Christmas and the other gets Thanksgiving). We are really enjoying that 'schedule'. Beats being on the road so much and gosh knows I don't need to over eat any more than I already do!!! Ahhh... :o)

We are still here and very thankful!!
Hey Everyone, I (yes, Jess again) do apologize for not updating any sooner. Oh wow, where do I begin.
We moved into our apartment in mid-July. We are renting another one bedroom with an attached 2 car garage in Ricon, GA. (This is just outside of Savannah, about 30 minutes from downtown) We wanted to buy or rent a house but with the uncertainty of my job situation we decided to do something that we knew we would be able to afford. We really like this small town. It's small, but has the necessities and is not far away from other things we may need. The apartment is smaller than our last one, but its serving its purpose and that's all we are concerned with at the moment.
The job market here in Savannah was slim for elementary teachers. I searched, called, e-mailed, and went to numerous schools to speak with principals, and repeatedly hear, "We do not know what our numbers are, good luck!" I just wanted to scream! Oh, and I was not able to draw unemployment b/c I left willingly to follow my spouse. (Had I been military, or lied saying that I left under bitter circumstances I would be been able to.) So finding a job was crucial now knowing this. I decided to e-mail my resume and cover letter to some local wedding planners to see if they were in need of any assistants or helpers. I was almost immediately contacted by one, and have thoroughly enjoyed working with her part time ever since. She has helped me to better navigate the city and see many places that even Dave has not been to before. Savannah is a BEAUTIFUL city. This job was fantastic, but the pay was not enough.
Sub jobs are not a 'given' anymore. I had to apply during a short window of opportunity to be able to sub in one of the 5 local counties. I was hired as a sub for the Savannah-Chatham County but sub jobs were very few and far between. I think I have subbed for them a total of 3 days now. (note: 2 part time jobs so far)
I was next contacted by Dave's wonderful cousin about possibly babysitting/nanny'ing for a local doctor who just recently had a baby. I went and met with the parents and started right away the following week. She was a precious 10week old baby girl. (note: 3 part time jobs now)
The week before starting the babysitting job I was contacted about a pre-school part time position phone interview at a school on the Fort Stewart base (about 50 minutes away from our apt). Yes, that is a DOD school! I immediately took the phone interview and was offered the job 2 days later. (note: 4 part time job!!!! Can a girl not get a full time job? :o) )
Needless to say, I took that position teaching 4 year old pre-school part time from 7:45-11:45 mon-fri. I am wanting a full time position, but this position gets my foot into the door to possibly/hopefully becoming fully time next school year. I started there on November 8th and have been working in my classroom and observing the other pre-school teacher since. This Monday, November 29th is my first day with my class. I am so excited, but a bit nervous as well. Thing are so different at this school. Its a good different, but after teaching for 5 years in the same school I have gotten into a routine and such. It's going to be different back to being the low man and having to re-learn the ins and outs of the school. I am ready for the challenge though. Also I am no longer able to sub for Savannah (darn!! hehe I do NOT like subbing at all!! Teachers make great subs, but we do not enjoy it one bit!!). I am still working with the wedding planner Melissa, and might still work for the babysitter later in the year on weekends and during the summer. That job is still up in the air.
Dave and I have a lot to be thankful for this year!! I am so thankful to have Dave's constant love and support as I went through the trials of finding a job. It's been tough and extremely stressful, but we have become stronger through the process as well. We have either been unemployed or lived apart for a year and a half now. It's been one crazy ride, but I would not want to have gone through that with anyone else but him. He has been so supportive. We just hope and pray that we continue on this wonderful path. We are so thankful for our wonderful parents and family. We always knew that they were right there behind us whenever we needed them. We are thankful for our wonderful friends near and far. Your thoughts and prayers through the year mean so much to us. We cannot wait to see many of you all at Christmas when we are in Mobile, and those in other areas of the US and Germany we hope to see you soon as well. We miss and love you all!!! We are wishing you all a Wonderful Thanksgiving!! Love and Miss you all!!

new apartment... check
Hello!
Yes, we now have a new apartment. No, we have not moved yet though. :-) We are still working out the moving details. More than likely it will be one of the last three weekends of July that we'll be officially moving. However, I am going to go ahead and send out our new address for those interested and want to go ahead and change it in their address book. (I know you wish I would stop moving already, but you all know I've never been one to sit still for too long, LOL!!)

My cell number will stay the same for now, but it too will eventually change. Dave's has changed already, so if you do not have his new phone number and would like it, please e-mail one of us.
No news on any jobs for me yet. I was told last week that it will more than likely be after the first 10 days of school until one principal knows for sure if she'll be able to hire. She can't hire anyone yet. I am going to start looking else where for a job, and substituting. Many counties too have cut back on their use of substitutes. Anyone have any contacts in Savannah, I'm open for suggestions / recommendations (even outside of education).
This weekend Mom and Dad are coming up for the 4th. I gave Dad Brave's tickets for Father's day, so we're going to take in a game one last time as well this weekend. Dave is able to come home too and spend the long weekend (after working on Saturday). He does not have to work too many Saturdays, but once every month during the summer months he has to work one, and one holiday weekend Saturday as well. Anything over that is extra pay, which is also an extra :-) wife!!

No news on any jobs for me yet. I was told last week that it will more than likely be after the first 10 days of school until one principal knows for sure if she'll be able to hire. She can't hire anyone yet. I am going to start looking else where for a job, and substituting. Many counties too have cut back on their use of substitutes. Anyone have any contacts in Savannah, I'm open for suggestions / recommendations (even outside of education).
This weekend Mom and Dad are coming up for the 4th. I gave Dad Brave's tickets for Father's day, so we're going to take in a game one last time as well this weekend. Dave is able to come home too and spend the long weekend (after working on Saturday). He does not have to work too many Saturdays, but once every month during the summer months he has to work one, and one holiday weekend Saturday as well. Anything over that is extra pay, which is also an extra :-) wife!!

Slowly but surely...
Hey again...
I (yup, Jess again) can't believe I have already been out of school for two weeks now! I finished moving/packing everything from my old classroom on our last day. It only took me 4 PACKED trips in the Jeep. Thank goodness we have a jeep! I would have never made it in my car.
No, I do not have another teaching job yet. The Savannah area (like the rest of Georgia) is still working out budgets, school zones/student numbers, and so forth for the next year. They are also just now getting out of school this week. So their interviewing time has not started yet. I just hope and pray I get a few interviews and job!! I am not so sure what I will do if I do not get a teaching position, but a plan B is in the back of my head for when I need it. (However, what plan B is... I have no idea!!).
Yes, I am still in Atlanta and Dave is in Savannah staying with his parents. We have to keep the apartment here until August 11. We will be 'officially' moving towards the middle to end of July. As of today, we do have an apartment in Rincon, GA (just outside of Savannah). We found a great complex, with a cute (SMALL!) one-bedroom apartments with attached 2 car garages (for all of our house furnishings). They had a great special on them that we could not pass up! Please if you are thinking about coming to visit, do not let our small apartment turn you away. We will try and make accommodations, or there are tons of hotels near by. Once we get settled, my job situation clears up (meaning, I am working again making some kind of income), and we decide on an area of Savannah, we will begin house hunting to purchase a house and move into next summer. Currently Rincon is near a lot of the school districts that I have applied to. I might have to drive a bit depending on where my job is, but I am OK with that and it should only be for a year.
I am so excited to be moving to Savannah-a new city for me to explore, moving back in with my HUSBAND-ahhh and I was just getting used to him only coming home on the weekends LOL, however, the move comes with MANY tears!! I am leaving my first job, my first 'real world' experience city, and the place where I met my husband! Those do not come anywhere near the friends I am leaving here. These wonderful women (and their men) have seriously been there for me so much these past 5 years!!
Elizabeth: my first friend I made at TIP (new Teacher i? orientation Program). We were both the same-ish age, first year teachers, and scared to death!! LOL You were there on my first and second date with Dave (they were both group-ish dates, LOL!!) and now I have been there through your path to finding love too. (an Auburn man... who can go wrong with that?!?!!). We have even found our love of reality shows and always have something or someone to talk about like we know them!! LOL. We can always find something to talk about or do! I can not wait to stand next to you in love and support as you start the next chapter in your life!
Karisa: my team mate, partner in crime (no real crimes!), my twin!! Wow, we were scared first year teachers together. What was Mike thinking hiring us two crazy young college girls, first year teachers, AND putting us on the same grade level team. You have taught and cultured me so much! I will never forget what a kitchen is!! I'm going to need long distance tutorials for sure!! Together we have gone down the path (practically the same time, and with Sandy too!!) of finding love, getting engaged, married, and now you and Sandy are continuing with children (hopefully I will not be too far behind). It's been a great ride filled with a TON of laughter, pranks, and love!!
Connie: OMG, You have taught me so much as well. My grammAr would not be anywhere that it is without you! Also, I am so glad that you are as patient as you are!! If you weren't you would have killed me the second day of TIP I'm sure with all of my crazy questions, worries, and concerns!! LOL, you never once kicked me out of your room from venting, rambling, or asking stupid questions and you have never turned down a pedi trip either! PS: I'm sorry to be leaving you hanging after lunch now!! You know what I'm talking about... 'Hey, guess what?...'
Michelle: You too have taught me so much. 1) my classroom OCD organization is OK... I have become one with that, LOL!! 2) You can still have fun and be a fantastic Mom!! and 3) That it (everything) will be OK!! You have introduced me to trivia!! Now you guys are going to have to write down the questions and call Dave and I every time you go and ask us (OK just him) the questions! LOL!! PS: We can still dog sit if you need us to! ;-)
Sandy: Wow, where to begin! You are so going to have to e-mail, text, or call me daily to help ease my nosiness!! You understand me! :-) I never thought anyone would, but I have found you! I feed like we too have been down the same journey together... it wasn't your first year teaching, but it was your first year in first grade when I started. We all fell in love the same year, got engaged the same year, married the same year, and now your pregnant!! I am so excited and happy for you both!! I can't wait to meet Baby Jess (or Jessie) in November!!
Toye: It has only been a few years, but that time has been fantastic!! You are quiet, but so fun and funny!! You have an adorable son, who I can't believe will already be one soon!! It has been great watching Dorian grow and see his personality come out more and more!!
Bouch (OK, Angela): I'm going to be honest, I had no clue what this year was going to be like when we received word that you were moving to our team. I knew it had to be great because a) you were taking some of my 24 students, b) I already knew you were a great parent to work with having Liam in my room, and c) you had a spark about you from the get go. I wish I had gotten to know you better last year already. It has been a ridonkulously fantastic year! Whatever am I going to do next year when no one just pops into my room? Gees I might actually have to teach something, LOL!!! Just kidding... I teach! I promise!!!
Carley: When you invited me to the cabin I was so excited, I had a new friend!! You are a great friend, mother, and teacher!! I can't wait to go back to the cabin or another outing with you again!! My abs are ready for another laughing weekend workout!!
Lori: You inspire me! Seriously, you are such a strong, loving,fantastic woman!! What you have gone through and over came in the 5 years that we have been working with you. REALLY!!! My Mobile girls Casey, Mandy, Sarah, and Missy, you know you are never forgotten!! You girls have known me and stuck by me through it all! We have been through it all, and I can't wait to go through it some more in Savannah!! Holla!! (whatever that IT will be)
My college peeps Laura, Sarah Beth, Meghan, Chris, Brooke, and everyone else in Facebook land!! I am so glad that we are all still in contact! Friendships really are hard to keep up at times! We might go weeks/months without talking, but when we get back together, each moment is cherished and enjoyed by all!! I cannot wait to take you guys around Savannah as well!! We need to give the town a little Auburn spirit!! Thank goodness we have facebook to help keep us in touch!!

Time just keeps on ticking ticking...
Hey everyone!! So I (Jess, the only one who ever types on here, ha ha) totally didn't realize that the last time I posted anything was in December!! I do apologize! However, our lives have not been that exciting for us to post anything.
What have the Padgett's been up to? A lot of nothing. :-) With Dave only coming home every other weekend, I've been able to make a long over due trip or two. I made it to Nashville to see my Big Sis Meghan. We had a great weekend together catching up and went to a winery!! Yum! We had our 'Mardi Gras' weekend much after Mardi Gras this year in Birmingham with Brooke, Sarah Beth, Chris, Laura, and Larry! That was a lot of fun! I went home for my mid-winter break (yes, I am SO going to miss having a week off every six weeks!! Savannah doesn't have the same schedule as I am on now! :-( ) I was spend some time with Mom, Dad, Casey, Madison, Mandy, and Garrett! Casey, Patrick, and Madison also came up one weekend when Casey's cousin Season was competing in a cheerleading (She is on the U of Maryland competitive cheer squad) competition in Atlanta. That was so crazy cool. Never in my life have I seen so much sparkle, make-up, and spandex!! It was totally fun though! Also since I last updated, I have lost my last living grandparent, my Grandmommie!! My Dad's mom. She hasn't been in the greatest health for the past year, but in March her health was going down fast. She went peacefully surrounded by most all of her children!! It was wonderful funeral. She had every one of her 8 children there, 17 grandchildren, and 18 of her 22 great grandchildren. I saw cousins that I had not seen in, really, it's been so long that I cannot remember how long it truly had been. It was just fantastic to see everyone, celebrate her life, and remember all the great times we had with her!
Dave is still working in Savannah and coming home roughly every other weekend. He is loving his job!! Right now he is a bit stressed with some trainings that he has to do on top of everything else that is still expected out of him and in his stores. He is keeping his head above water and making it through though. I'm just so excited and thankful that he found such a good job and a job that he is truly enjoying!! Wish we didn't have to live apart but even that is almost over now!! Wow, this year has gone by so fast!!
Me... I am working on finding a job!! Please keep my job in your prayers! I have sent my resume, cover letter, contacts, and letters of recommendation to every school (about 70 total) in 5 counties in the Savannah, GA area. Teaching in GA is not looking good, but there is hope for something to come along through my various connections. Right now we are gearing up for our state standardized test called CRCT!!! Yes, they give this crazy standardized test to FIRST graders!! Its crazy! This test is so frustrating. If someone walks by my door and sees me point at something... I can lose my job. If I say something that is not 'in the script'... I can lose my job. If for some reason my voice fluctuates or I look funny at something... I can lose my job. UGH really?!?!!... I went to college for 7 years, have two degrees, you allow me to be in a room with these kids for 10 mos out of the year, but I can't give a test on my own, help guide a lost child on the wrong number, or use expression in my voice? Wow!! Anyways... Welcome to GA! With that said... we only have 6 more weeks of school left. The kids are out May 28 and teachers are out on June 3rd. YAY!!! Dave and I have our apartment in Atlanta until early August so... as of now we'll be looking for an apartment in Savannah for the first few months and then once we're settled in (with me having a job, hopefully!!) we can start looking for a house in a nice area. We did not want to rush into anything and regret it later.

Happy Holidays
So it's the Holiday Season, and I (Jess) just have not been 'feeling' it. I wasn't sure if it was because Dave isn't here much because of work or because I'm not decorating for the holidays. Well today I bit the bullet talked to Dave about buying a small tree and just a few minimal decorations. So I did, and it's been nice to look at, except I forgot to get ornament hangers. LOL, oops! Why don't they sell ornaments with hangers? I don't get that!
So Dave has been at his new job for four weeks now, and is really enjoying it. It is a challenging job where he has a lot of paper work to do at home, and physical type work to do in each store. He is a Territory Manager for Valspar Paints (Lowe's paint brand). He has 7 stores he has under him and has to visit each week. He does all of the ordering, straightening up (if they Lowe's employee's aren't doing it), changes out signs (and light blubs) in their show cases, and pretty much anything with their name on it, if it needs to be done he has to do it. The Lowe's employee's aren't expected to do it, but sometimes they do see things that need to be done and do it, but ultimately it's his responsibility.
Thankfully he's able to live with his parents during the week and he comes home on most weekends depending on what is going on. It's been hard being away and alone, but I keep reminding myself he has a great job and I'll be joining him in June. The plan is for use to buy a house next summer in the Savannah area. I'll be searching for a job after the new year. So keep me in your prayers to finding a job. The education departments all over GA are all dealing with budget cuts, and so I'm afraid that finding a job might be rather difficult. Thankfully I do come with 5 years of experience, so we'll see.

It all just falls into place...
Hey everyone!!
So like I said in my last blog things just seemed to be going great if only Dave could find a job. Well... the time has come for Dave to get his job!! We got the news on Friday afternoon, that he was offered and accepted a position with Valspar Paints (Lowe's) as their Territory Manager in Savannah, GA. Yes, I know, FAR from home!! It's just something we had to take though giving the prospective jobs in Atlanta. We will be moving closer to his family. They are all in the Savannah area. This also helps out with him working now and me staying to finish out my contract in Atlanta. He is going to be moving down to Savannah and staying with his parents. Then after I finish my school year I will be moving down to join him. It only took a little time and faith that things would work out for the best. We're so grateful for all the thoughts, wishes, and prayers!! I'll be in Atlanta until June of next year (come and visit) and then after that we'll be in Savannah. You all know its a beautiful city that you want to come and see!! Now is (well next years) your chance!! Hope everyone is doing well and having a great week. I'm off to bed and ready to celebrate my 3rd furlough day of the year. It was going to be a paid teacher work day with no kids tomorrow, but they decided to make it a non paid furlough day, so at home I shall stay!! Well OK so I'm going to lunch with some good friends and getting a pedi too.

So like I said in my last blog things just seemed to be going great if only Dave could find a job. Well... the time has come for Dave to get his job!! Finally... all settled...
Why helloooo...
So the last post was a bit of a stress/vent relief for myself! LOL! Yes the appraisal went through and we sold the house!!! We were out house hunting b/c we were hoping to get the tax credit for first time home buyers since I would be a first time home buyer. Well no... they look at the entire household and with Dave having bought a house, we weren't considered first time no matter how we 'signed' the paper work and all. So that did put a kink in our thoughts... With Dave not having a job, if we bought a house that would put him as HAVING to get a job in the Atlanta area. We went apartment hunting and found it to be cheaper, large enough, and some had garages for us to store our things in that wouldn't fit into the apartment. We found that renting an apartment would be the better way for us to go and it would also leave Dave open to find a job anywhere. He's been looking anywhere in the South-East area. (MS, AL, FL, TN, GA, SC) We also found a great one bedroom apartment with an attached garage. We went ahead with just a one bedroom (it was cheaper and it had the attached garage) because we said if for some reason Dave did get a job else where we would need to possibly be able to afford two apartments and doing a one bedroom is the cheapest way to go. Honestly now that we're moved in we aren't cramped at all (except for our closet!!). It's been great, our living room furniture is all up here and spacious. The only thing we wouldn't mind having is two bathrooms (LOL), but that's it!! It's been nice. We do not have anyone living above us, and we live above our garage and our neighbors garage, so we do not have anyone living below us either. It's a very nice apartment complex too. We were even able to bring up the futon for any guests that we might have. We might only have a one bedroom but we do still have room for guests!! AND I'm about 30 minutes CLOSER to work!! Ahhhh that's been nice!! We were living 45 minutes away from my work. So with that said... works been going... and we're finally all settled in. Now on to getting Dave a job!!! It's all finally falling into place!! Thank God!! Hope everyone is going great. Come and visit anytime!!

Here's to the future...
Oh goodness what a school year and a week!!! Where to begin...
So we start out our new school year, my 5th year teaching in GA, with 3 furlough days. UGH, that means, we had 3 working/paid days taken away from us. The first two, were our preplanning days. No Gov. Sonny we don't have ANYTHING to do in our classrooms those two days, we'd gladly stay at home and not work. Needless to say I was at work b/c either way furlough days or not, my room was expected to be completed and ready by open house Thursdays night. Well here comes Thursday night, I'm all ready to go, I have 15 kids, I'm waiting at my door to greet my new students, and here I get my 'new' class list with 23 students. Yes, 23 is our maximum this year. So the night continues and we can't give anything out to the parents b/c we were basically told to tell them that they might be in my class but then again they might not. My parents were so kind to me, but not happy about the situation at all!! Well also by the end of the night I had one more special ed. students so now I have 24 students in my room 5 of whom are special ed.
We are now in week 4 and we were told since the beginning of school, yes we see you need another teacher.... ok... so you see we need one school board, now what are you going to do about it? And we hear nothing.... then we hear, yes you should get one... then we hear no you might not get one... then we hear no you will not be getting one. I am freaking out. My class is FULL FULL of talkers and distractors for my special ed students. I have too many students!!! So we move four students out. I am now down to 20... ahhhh nice!! Then the VERY next day we were told move a teacher out of 2nd to first grade. OMG why couldn't they have done this 3 or 4 weeks ago??!?!!! Oh well... so I did get to move 4 more students out as well as other teachers that were maxed out. I am now down to 16 and it has been great!!
Then this past week... we were called up and said hey we want to show your house. Dave and I are like ok... whatever, this has happened about 3 or 4 other times, but we don't think our house has ever been showed. So we straighten up, and clean a bit but we don't go out of our way for anything. Go figure when we clean up like this we get an offer. Wow!! totally wasn't expecting that! What do we do? Man I have prayed so much this past week!! We didn't really care of the buyers offer, so we counter offer. His offer was a fair offer to begin with, but it's not what we wanted. He then counter offered again. We then sat down and really hashed out the pro's and con's or moving/selling and where would we go. Dave doesn't have a job. What do we do. We decide to reject the offer and possibly pull the house off of the market. We're good to go right? WRONG!! 10 minutes later the realtor calls back with the original counter offer!! We feel that this is a sign from God saying hey this is your last time, take it. I have given you 2 options to take it already, this is your 3rd and final chance. So we take it. Dave signed the papers and if the appraisal goes well it's a done deal. Closing will be on September 25, and we'd have to be out by the 29th of September.
OMG I'm freaking out!! We went out house hunting with Jon and his realtor yesterday around Newnan. Dave and I drove around to some area's that we thought might have some possibilities that we'd like. Who knows where we'll actually end up. We're looking at foreclosures mainly but there are houses out there in our price range too surprisingly. Please pray for us that we are heading in the right direction and find the house that is right for us!! We know we won't be able to find a house and sign on one before we close on our house, but we're hoping to possibly have something in mind by the end of the month!! We'd really appreciate the prayers right now!!

Summer is almost over...
So nothing much has happened, changed, or occurred since my last post. I (Jess as usual) am just really bored at the moment and procrastinating from doing school work. School work you say? Yep, I'm trying to get as much done ahead of time as possible. They (the evil Government/School Board) took two of our pre-planning days (of course the first two days, Monday and Tuesday) which means I have two less days to get everything ready for open house Thursday night. My room is pretty much ready to go, but now I'm just trying to get everything ready for the parents and the first day/week of school. Oh well... life goes on.
Mom is still improving and doing great. She's driving now and has her last week of therapy ahead of her. Her sister and niece from Baltimore are coming down Wednesday for about two week. I'm super excited for her to see them. They're going to all come up to Auburn one weekend and we're going to meet them there as well. Her sister has lost a lot of weight (80lbs at least) and has been my motivation since I put a lot of my weight back on.
Speaking of weight, Dave and I have been going to the gym strong and faithful now. We're getting back into the routine of going and eating right. I asked him to make me go every day even if I say that I do not want to go. LOL, He has made me stick to it, and I thank him for that!! I might not thank him on the way there, or while I'm there, but usually on the way home he gets a thank you! :-)
Nothing is new in the job world for Dave at the moment. Keep us in your prayers that something comes up soon. I am so ready for some sort of 'vacation/travel'. Well I'm off to maybe stop procrastinating.. ha ha ha

Back together in Georgia!!
So I (Jessica) am back home in Milner, GA. I have to say I did miss my bed (more than I really thought I did) and my husband!! I have a meeting with work this week, so I needed to get back home, and get ready for that. Mom is doing great, and is really independent now, so it was a good time for me to leave her too. She is officially walking with no assistance (no walker/cane), except every now and then when she feels she needs something, she can use her cane. She has been doing great from what I can tell, especially from where she was before the surgery. I'm really proud of her for finally going through with the surgery and am so happy to have been able to be there to help her get back to 'normal' afterwards!!
We had a great 4th of July weekend! We started that Friday, the 3rd, going to Ocean Springs, MS, to visit family. My cousin has a beach house there and they were in town with their 3 girls as well as my Aunt and Uncle. Her brother, wife, and one month old baby were coming into town too. Of course I wanted to see the new baby, and play with my cousins 3 young girls!! They were so much fun, and of course the baby was absolutely adorable!!
Saturday the 4th, we got up and loaded the car, and headed to Auburn, AL to meet up with Dave. We just hung out at the trailer for the day. I cooked dinner and we had our good family friends over from Opelika. They are so fun!! We just enjoyed the evening eating, talking, and eating some more. We were so busy talking that we totally forgot about maybe going to see fireworks. We heard them though, LOL!!
Sunday the 5th, we loaded up and headed home. Mom and Dad headed to Mobile, and we headed home. It was good to be home, however, now 'the real world' hits. Bills, laundry, cooking... it's all good though!!

The waddle is almot gone!!
Hey everyone, so it's been awhile since we had a post on here. We have had a lot going on here lately...
Thursday June 11th my (Jessica) parents drove up to Auburn. That Friday they rode with some very good family friends over to Montezuma, GA where Dave and I met them to go eat at Yoder's (YUM!), pick blueberries, and strawberries. We had a great day together. We all went back to Auburn for the evening. Where Dave and I raced on 4-wheelers for a good hour or two. (Man, I didn't realize that it would make my arms so sore!!)
Saturday, June 12 we all separated. I rode home with Mom and Dad, and Dave went back home. Sunday was my Goddaughters 4th birthday party. It was great to see them again (they have finally moved back to Alabama after being in Maryland for 4 years). We had a great time and a good time catching up that evening in the pool when the kids were in bed.
Monday morning is the first day to the real reason that I came to Mobile. It's has been about 8 years coming. 4:30am... I'm all packed as well as Mom too, and we head to Springhill Memorial Hospital. Mom is FINALLY having hip replacement surgery at 7am. I must admit I was super excited for her, but nervous too. I don't deal well with hospitals and/or doctors of any sort well.
10:00ish am the doctor comes out and said that surgery went great, and not a lot of blood lost either. (This is supposedly one of the (if not the) bloodiest surgeries, and she was happy to not have to get a blood transfusion, even though the blood donor is a great family friend.) We were able to see her finally around 10:30 and she was up and awake and in such high spirit! I was RELIEVED and super excited now for her road to recovery! She was even excited that she was already able to move her feet (both legs) some too.
Surgery day was good, she wasn't able to get out of the bed, slept a lot, in good spirits, was on a liquid diet, and had no appetite. I had planned on staying with her (well once I saw they only had two strait upright (hard to get comfortable in) chairs, I kind of had to retract on my commitment to staying every night LOL!!) I started to sleep in the chairs bumped together, but turns out a WONDERFUL nurse brought me a couch that pulled out into a bed after seeing me all crunched up into those two chairs. It wasn't my bed, but it was good enough for me to stay every night with mom. (She didn't ask me to but I volunteered and I know it was comforting to her to always have someone to talk to when she was awake or help when she needed something).
Tuesday... the next day after surgery... they had her get out of bed already that day and walk. She was so nervous, but she did great. She managed to walk half way down the hall too the 2nd time walking. Each day after that the added different exercises and she walked a bit farther.
Thursday she was released to come home, a bit nervous about it, but she chose home versus a therapy center. Her therapist and nurse came out right away Friday. They both come 3 days a week and are wonderful ladies. They each come out 3 days a week (tomorrow MIGHT be the last day for the nurse if all goes well in her follow up appointment with the doctor on Monday 6/29)
Each time the therapist would come out it would be the same thing... she's doing great, keep doing your exercises... well one time she changed her exercises and had her doing them standing up instead of sitting down because it was easier for Mom to do.
Here is the absolute exciting news!! Today, 6/25, 10 days after hip replacement surgery, Mom was pretty much walking on her own!! She had a cane/folded up walker beside her for security. She got up and sat down in her rocking lazy boy chair ALONE!! Neither of those has she done before today. She's doing great. I'm super proud of her, and just wanted to share our joys!! We all have appreciated all of the prayers, calls, concerns, flowers, and cards. They have really helped to keep Mom's spirits up. I know in the hospital everyone said that we had the prettiest room for all the beautiful bouquets.
I know many might remember how she walked (or as some of us called it waddled)... it's almost gone. It's still there a LITTLE bit but that's only out of insecurity in walking, and still a habbit from before too.
SO that has pretty much been my past two weeks. It's been hard, I'm not going to lie, Mom and I are usually ALWAYS going and doing something somewhere!! However, to fight the cabin fever boredom, I brought home enough school work with me to be content for however long I needed to stay and that has kept me pretty busy. I met up with my best friends Casey and Mandy last night for a girls night. We played on the Wii and watched a movie. It was great!! Then next week I'm going to escape to the beach with Casey and Mandy for a day. All and all I'm super proud of her and I'm just thankful that I was able to come home and help her. I know Dad would have taken vacation, but that's truly not a vacation, and I'm sure Mom and Dad both would rather use that vacation time to go somewhere and show off that new hip later on this year!! I have even surprised myself in what I have been able to do to help her. I've been changing her surgery dressings. (It's NASTY gross, but I haven't gagged yet! and the STAPLES, not stitches, come on Monday hopefully).

I met up with my best friends Casey and Mandy last night for a girls night. We played on the Wii and watched a movie. It was great!! Then next week I'm going to escape to the beach with Casey and Mandy for a day. All and all I'm super proud of her and I'm just thankful that I was able to come home and help her. I know Dad would have taken vacation, but that's truly not a vacation, and I'm sure Mom and Dad both would rather use that vacation time to go somewhere and show off that new hip later on this year!! I have even surprised myself in what I have been able to do to help her. I've been changing her surgery dressings. (It's NASTY gross, but I haven't gagged yet! and the STAPLES, not stitches, come on Monday hopefully).
Anyways I've been meaning to post this, but haven't yet. Bless you and thank you if you were able to read all of it!

Lost at home...
So... I (Jessica) just got off of the phone and SO have to blog about this conversation...
Dave: I have no idea where I am
Jess: What?!?!
Dave: Yea, I'm past the barb wire fence (which is the farthest point of our 2 acre lot, by the way). I thought I was headed home, but no, I'm not.
Jess: Do you need me to go outside and scream for you to follow my voice?
Dave: nah, I think I know where I am now
Jess: (Thinking, oh lord... who knows what direction he's going into now!) Ok well... call me if you need me to come out and find you!
LOL!! He must have been so into his spraying the brush in the woods that he didn't have a clue which direction he was going. He's doing an awesome job by the way. Here is a before pic of the back yard,
When he's finished I'll post an after. We're clearing out the weeds/brush/vines/baby trees out until the BIG tree line in the back. Right now the yard pretty much ends at the shed, but he's taking it back to the tree line.
PS: He just came home!! YAY!!! His first words said with a grin "It's easy to get turned around out there!"

Our FIRST blog...
Well... what should I (Jessica) say? I'm actually not even sure if I'm doing this whole 'blog' thing correctly. LOL! This is just a test run obviously, but I might as well make some good use of it if you're going to read this. I don't want to waste your time.
Since the wedding... WOW, it's already been 7 months! We spent our honeymoon in beautiful Negril, Jamaica! I didn't want to come home. I'll go tomorrow if someone will send me!! I LOVED it there!
Other than that our life has been pretty smooth. I just finished up my 4th year of teaching. I'm still in the same school with the same WONDERFUL team members! We have put the house up for sale. (ha ha I know!) We are not contemplating about taking it down, but we're going to wait until Dave has a job first. If his job has a long commute then we'll leave it up and hope it sells. If not then we're going to take it down, fix it up, unpack wedding gifts, and enjoy it for a few years to come. (We'll see... I just want to know if we're leaving it up or not?!?!!)
Dave is still searching for a job, anyone know of anything?!?! We're open for suggestions and contacts!! We're staying positive and taking it all one day at a time. If anything this has brought us closer. We have become more inventive of how to spend our weekends together and have entertaining cheap/free fun too. I am cooking more!! :) We really needed to become more frugal with our spending a while ago, but never did. Now we HAVE to! :)
Well I going to get some sleep now. We had a very productive day of lawn mowing, house cleaning, grocery shopping, and laundry!! I love productive days!!
